Breakdown or Breakthrough?

Scripture: 1 Kings 19:1–19:22

Elijah lived with the juxtaposition of two truths:  He had amazing power, but also amazing frailty.   After defeating the prophets of Baal, Elijah fell into a deep pit of fear and despair.  The church needs to be open and honest about our frailty.  It is normal to struggle.  We are not unique in our struggles and we are not alone in our struggles.  God showed up for Elijah when he was all alone.  God will always be there for us.  He will renew and restore us.  God came to Elijah in a whisper.  We are not stuck in our struggles.  God is strong and brings hope and restoration.  Elijah went on to perform greater miracles with greater power than before.  Our struggles and failures do not define us and God’s hope and restoration is available to all of us.
